Craft Your Own Guitar in Tasmania
Learn lutherie in a beautiful workshop in Dynnyrne
Cary Lewincamp runs small group guitar and ukulele making courses from his home workshop in Dynnyrne, Tasmania. Over the course, you’ll build a complete guitar or ukulele from scratch, from selecting timber to stringing up and playing your finished instrument.
Small Groups, Hands-On Learning
With just a few students per course, everyone gets plenty of individual guidance. Whether you’re handy with tools or completely new to woodworking, Cary will help you develop the skills you need. You’ll learn traditional techniques and understand how each part of the guitar contributes to its sound and playability.
The Workshop
Cary’s workshop is a sanctuary for makers. It has everything you need: good light, quality tools, and space to work comfortably. It’s a relaxed environment where you can focus on the work and enjoy the process.
What You’ll Create
You’ll build your own instrument, learning every step from shaping the neck and body to fretting, finishing, and final setup. By the end, you’ll have a fully playable instrument that you made yourself and the knowledge to maintain and understand guitars in a whole new way.
A Memorable Experience
Most people find the course rewarding in ways they didn’t expect. There’s something special about working with your hands, learning a traditional craft, and creating something that will make music for years to come.
